Solidarity movement launches new national youth magazine

The 100-page magazine printed in color is in English and a bi-monthly to start with.

Indore:  Universal Solidarity Movement, which works to spread values of education and peace, has launched a new national youth magazine aiming to accelerate its move among the younger generation.

The magazine, Youth Action, was launched March 7 at a function in Indore, the base of the movement in Madhya Pradesh state.

The magazine is "an attempt to reach out to the students and the youth of the nation for value education and enlightened leadership,” said Dr. Jacob Kani, the Editor-in-Chief of the new magazine, and the former Chief Editor of the Delhi-based Indian Currents weekly.

Senior journalist Shravan Garg, editor of Free Press daily, while releasing the first issue said the magazine with "inspiring life stories, enlightening articles, attractive design and good presentation, is a laudable and challenging endeavor to guide the youth of the nation."

The first issue, released on the eve of International Women’s Day, highlighted in it cover the story of youth icon Ms. Leema Dhar, the author of six books with three national best sellers at the age of 21.

Though designed as a youth magazine, it is also meant for all those who are part of the life and growth of the young people, namely parents, teachers, mentors, counselors, policy makers, a USM press release said.

The 100-page magazine printed in color is in English and a bi-monthly to start with. Later it is intended to be a monthly magazine, the release said.

Bishop Chacko Thottumarickal of Indore graced the occasion with his presence.

Prominent citizens of Indore Dr. Narendra Virmani, IPS (Retd), Ms. Anjana Tiwari, Adl. S.P., Indore and Padmashree Dr. Jank Palta Macgilligan were among those attended the launch function.
