Nun raped flies out of Kolkata, no arrests yet

The 71-year-old nun was admitted to the hospital after being brutalized by dacoits in West Bengal's Nadia district.

 

Kolkata:  The elderly nun, who was raped during an assault on a convent school in West Bengal's Nadia district a week ago, left hospital and flew out of Kolkata to an unknown place.

The 71-year old nun, Sister Superior of Convent of Jesus and Mary in Ranaghat, had been discharged from the hospital last Firday, said Ranaghat sub-divisional hospital superintendent A N Mondol.

"She was officially discharged at 2:20am (on March 20) but it took another 25 minutes for her to collect her belongings and leave," Mondol said. Before leaving she blessed all doctors and hospital staff. The nun also expressed gratitude for the treatment and care at the hospital.

The 71-year-old nun was admitted to the hospital after being brutalized by dacoits at the convent at Gangnapur in Ranaghat in West Bengal's Nadia district in the early hours of March 14.

Police teams visited the convent yesterday and were seen taking photographs and making sketches of the convent building.
