Every 10 years, remains of the missionary saint, also called the 'Patron Saint of Goa', are kept on public display.

Panaji:  A "zero energy" consuming concept house, being developed by a team from IIT-Bombay, will be exhibited during the Exposition of Spanish saint Francis Xavier later this year, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said Sunday.

Parrikar, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, was speaking at a conference on "Exploring Energy Frontiers" here.

The chief minister praised the "zero energy" house project undertaken by Team Shunya, a collaboration between IIT-Bombay and Rachana Sansad's Academy of Architecture.

Calling the project a new beginning in an age when energy was becoming a critical factor, Parrikar said the Goa government was willing to do its bit for promoting a concept house that consumes minimum energy.

"We are ready to exhibit it," Parrikar said.

Every 10 years, remains of the missionary saint, also called the 'Patron Saint of Goa', are kept on public display at an event called the Exposition of St. Francis Xavier at the Old Goa Church complex, 10 km from Panaji.

Over five million devotees are expected to attend the event scheduled to be held from Nov 22 to Jan 4.
