Pope Francis calls for prayer for the upcoming Synod of Bishops

Pope has indicated Sept. 28 as the day of special prayers for the Synod.

New Delhi:  Pope Francis has called upon all the members of the Catholic Church to pray in a very special way for the success of the III Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.

The synod which deals with the topic ‘The Pastoral Challengeis of the Family in the Context of Evangelization’ is scheduled to take place in Rome from Oct 5-9.

Pope has indicated Sept. 28 as the day of special prayers for the Synod, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India said in a press statement.

It stated that the Pope himself has composed a special prayer to the Holy Family, and the Secretariat of Synod of Bishops has prepared a set of ‘Prayer of the Faithful’ and sent to all the Bishops worldwide to be used for the Sunday Mass on that day.

In a separate communication, Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri, General Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, has requested the bishops to invite the parish communities and religious houses to use these prayers widely everyday till the synod ends.
