Purpose of visit would be to 'talk about peace in the world'.

China:  The Argentinian website Infobae revealed yesterday that Pope Francis had sent a personal letter to China’s President Xi Jinping, via two Argentinian emissaries: Ricardo Romano, a representative of Peronism and Jose Lujan, a representative of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

According to Infobae, the gesture comes after a long meeting in St. Martha’s House, attended by the Pope, the two emissaries, the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin and the Vatican “foreign affairs minister”, Mgr. Dominique Mamberti.

During the course of the meeting on peace and justice in the world, held on 3 September, Francis apparently said: “I am a clinician. I said I would like to visit China but Cardinal Parolin’s the surgeon when it comes to subjects relating to Asia.”

The author of the article, Claudia Peiro, says that in his letter, Francis formally invited President Xi Jinping to visit the Vatican to talk about peace in the world … In a statement, Romano told Infobae that during the exchange of opinions in St. Martha’s House, there was a stress on the need to establish ties with Beijing “in order to contribute to the decision-making process in a multipolar way, guaranteeing a superior degree of governance, serving more fraternal planetary society where there is greater social equality.”
