Kohima starts unit of Couples for Christ

The CFC movement that began in Philippines in 1981 has now units in 106 countries, including India.

Dimapur:  Retreating the primacy of families in the Catholic Church, Bishop James Thoppil of Kohima has launched the Couples for Christ (CFC) movement in his diocese.

A unit of the movement was inaugurated at the cathedral parish during the previous two weekends of July 26 and 27 and August 3 and 4.

Bishop Thoppil stressed the need to build up good Christian families and said marriage was a permanent bond that God has established.

He expressed hope that the movement will help the broken families to unite, marriage bonds strengthen and bring exemplary Christian life in the diocese.

The CFC movement that began in Philippines in 1981 has now units in 106 countries, including India.

The movement is a private lay association approved by the Church and it has branches to include every member of the family such Kids for Christ (KFC), Youth for Christ (YFC), Singles for Christ (SFC) Servants of the Lord (SOLD) and Handmaids of the Lord (HOLD).

The CFC country head, Hector and Garnet Poppen, based in Bangalore organized the program, which was attended by 41 members from different parishes of Kohima.
