Police say no to 'Kiss of Love' event

Police say no to 'Kiss of Love' event

The message had gone viral in the social media.

Kochi:  Police have denied permission for holding a "kissing session" at the Marine Drive here Sunday evening, meant to counter the increasing instances of moral policing in the state.

A group of young social media buffs has asked men and women, young and old, to turn up at the Marine Drive to express their love in public.

The event "Kiss of Love" was meant to protest the recent attack by Yuva Morcha activists on a cafe at Kozhikode after a TV channel here showed young men and women who hug and kiss when they come to the place for a soft drink or snacks.

The message had gone viral in the social media.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in a press release Wednesday said the "Kiss of Love" is being spread through social media and it is trying to find out whether the event is really being planned or it is a fake one.

"Since the alleged programme is not sponsored by any known group or organisation there is no authenticity to the news being spread. In such a situation it is not wise to go for any direct action but instead initiate legal action and create public awareness against this.

"The other news being spread in the name of VHP that we will physically prevent the programme is not genuine as we have not taken any such decision at the district or state level," said the VHP.
