Salesian Guwahati provincial, Bible translator honoured
Father Thomas was awarded the State Level Sankardev Award for Social Work in 1990, acknowledging his contribution in education and sports.

Salesian's
Guwahati Provincial Father V. M Thomas was awarded for his efforts in
education, while another Salesian, Father Sebastian Ishorary, was
awarded for his work to translate Bible to Bodo tribal language.
Father
Thomas, was awarded the “Youth and Education Award 2015” by Christ
International School, Umiam Meghalaya for his contributions in promoting
youth and education.
Governor
of Meghalaya state V. Shanmuganathan presented the award to Father
Thomas on December 5. The Award was recognition for his passion and
commitment to teaching, inspiring and nurturing the youth and the
students.
Fr.
Thomas, an educationist and acclaimed HRD trainer, is the founder of
Don Bosco Institute & Don Bosco Institute of Management in Guwahati.
He was awarded the State Level Sankardev Award for Social Work in 1990, acknowledging his contribution in education and sports.

Father
Ishorary was awarded the “Alberione Award 2015” for his Bodo
translation of the Bible at a function organized by North East Social
Communications and Indian Catholic Press Association held on December 6
at Monfort School in Guwahati.
Bishop Salvadore Lobo of Baruipur, Chairman of CBCI Office for Social Communications, presented the award to Father Ishorary.
