சன.27,2014. இஸ்பெயினில் பிறந்து, இந்தியாவின் தமிழகத்தில் உயிரிழந்த, கார்மல் துறவு சபையின் புனித தெரேசாவின் சக்கரியா என்ற அருட்பணியாளர் உட்பட, ஏழு இறைடியார்களின் பெயர்கள், அவர்களின் வீரத்துவ பண்புகளுக்காகவும், மறைசாட்சியாக உயிரிழந்த இஸ்பானிய அருட்பணியாளர் ஒருவரின் பெயரும்,  புனிதர்பட்டநிலைக்கான  படிகளுக்கென இத்திங்களன்று திருத்தந்தையின் முன்னிலையில் சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டன.

தற்போது வீரத்துவ பண்புகளுக்காக புனிதர்பட்ட நிலைகளுக்கென சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள ஏழு இறையடியார்களுள், கார்மல் துறவுசபையின் அருட்திரு சக்கரியா அவர்கள், 1887ம் ஆண்டு இஸ்பெயினில் பிறந்து, 1957ம் ஆண்டு, மேமாதம் 23ம் தேதி தமிழகத்தின் வேலூரில் காலமானார்.

இவர் பெயருடன் இணைந்து, இத்தாலியின் வெரோனாவில் பிறந்த மறைமாவட்ட குரு. ஜூசப்பே ஜிரல்லி, கானடாவின் இறையடியார், அருட்சகோதரி Marcella Mallet, அர்ஜென்டினாவின் இறையடியார் அருட்சகோதரி Maria Benedetta Arias, மால்ட்டாவின் இறைடியார், அருட்சகோதரி இயேசுவின் திரு இதயத்தின் மார்கரித்தா, பிரசிலின் இறையடியார், அருட்சகோதரி செரஃபீனா, இத்தாலியின் இறையடியார், பொதுநிலையினரான Elisabetta Sanna ஆகியோரின் பெயர்களும் திருத்தந்தையிடம் சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டன.

மேலும், மறைசாட்சியாக உயிரிழந்த இஸ்பெயினின் அருட்திரு Pietro Asúa Mendíaவின் பெயரும், புனிதர்பட்ட நிலைக்கான படிகளுக்கென திருத்தந்தையிடம் சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டது.

அதிகம் படித்தவர்களையோ சட்டவல்லுனர்களையோ இயேசு தன் பணிக்கெனத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கவில்லை, மாறாக சாதாரண மக்களையேத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து, நற்செய்தியை எடுத்துரைக்க அனுப்பினார் என்பதையும் சுட்டிக்காட்டிய திருத்தந்தை பிரான்சிஸ் அவர்கள், இன்றும் நம் வாழ்வின் பாதைகளில் நடைபோடும் இயேசு, நம்மையும் அழைக்கிறார், அவரின் குரலுக்குச் செவிமடுத்து, துணிவுடன் பின்தொடர்வோம் என்றார்.

உலகில் ஒளியின்றி எப்பகுதியும் இருக்கக்கூடாது என்பதை மனதிற்கொண்டு, இயேசுவின் நற்செய்தி தரும் மகிழ்ச்சியை உலகம் முழுமைக்கும் எடுத்துச் செல்வோம் என்ற அழைப்பும் திருத்தந்தையால் விடப்பட்டது.

புனித பேதுருவின் வழிவந்தவரின் பணியை ஆழமாகப் புரிந்துகொள்வதற்கும் கிறிஸ்தவ ஒன்றிப்புப் பயணம் நமக்கு உதவியுள்ளது என்றும் நாம் சொல்லலாம் எனவும் கூறினார் திருத்தந்தை பிரான்சிஸ்.

கிறிஸ்தவ ஒன்றிப்பு வாரத்தை நிறைவு செய்த மாலை திருவழிபாட்டை உரோம் புனித பவுல் பசிலிக்காவில் இச்சனிக்கிழமை மாலை நிகழ்த்தி மறையுரையாற்றிய  திருத்தந்தை பிரான்சிஸ் அவர்கள்,  வருங்காலத்திலும் கிறிஸ்தவ ஒன்றிப்புப்பணியை நாம் தொடர்ந்து செய்வோம் என நம்புவோம் எனக் கூறினார்.

திருஅவையிலுள்ள பிரிவினைகள் இயல்பானவை, மற்றும் தவிர்க்க இயலாதவை என்று நாம் கருதமுடியாது என்றும், கிறிஸ்து பிளவுபடமுடியாது என்ற உறுதிப்பாட்டுடன், கிறிஸ்தவ விசுவாசிகள் அனைவர் மத்தியிலும் முழு ஒன்றிப்பு ஏற்படுவதற்கு நாம் தாழ்ச்சியுடன் உழைப்போம் என்றும் கூறினார் திருத்தந்தை பிரான்சிஸ்.

கிறிஸ்து பிளவுபட்டுள்ளாரா (1 கொரி. 1:13)  என்ற தலைப்பில் 47வது கிறிஸ்தவ ஒன்றிப்பு வாரம் இம்மாதம் 18 முதல் 25 வரை சிறப்பிக்கப்பட்டது.

ST. CYRIL became Patriarch of Alexandria in 412. Having at first thrown himself with ardor into the party politics of the place, God called him to a nobler conflict. In 428, Nestorius, Bishop of Constantinople, began to deny the unity of Person in Christ, and to refuse to the Blessed Virgin the title of "Mother of God." He was strongly supported by disciples and friends throughout the East. As the assertion of the divine maternity of Our Lady was necessary to the integrity of the doctrine of the Incarnation, so, with St. Cyril, devotion to the Mother was the necessary complement of his devotion to the Son. St. Cyril, after expostulating in vain, accused Nestorius to Pope Celestine. The Pope commanded retraction, under pain of separation from the Church, and intrusted St. Cyril with the conduct of the proceedings. The appointed day, June 7, 431, found Nestorius and Cyril at Ephesus, with over 200 bishops. After waiting twelve days in vain for the Syrian bishops, the council with Cyril tried Nestorius, and deposed him from his see. Upon this the Syrians and Nestorians excommunicated St. Cyril, and complained of him to the emperor as a peace-breaker. Imprisoned and threatened with banishment, the Saint rejoiced to confess Christ by suffering. In time it was recognized that St. Cyril was right, and with him the Church triumphed. Forgetting his wrongs, and careless of controversial punctilio, Cyril then reconciled himself with all who would consent to hold the doctrine of the Incarnation intact. He died in 444.

Careerist clergy. The super rich. And now we can add another pelt to Pope Francis' collection: Internet trolls.
In statement released on Thursday, the Pope said the Internet and social media are making people across the world "increasingly interdependent."
"The Internet, in particular, offers immense possibilities for encounter and solidarity," Francis said. "This is something truly good, a gift from God."
At the same time, though, all those tweets and texts and comment streams can cause people to "lose our bearings," said the 77-year-old pontiff.
"The speed with which information is communicated exceeds our capacity for reflection and judgement, and this does not make for more balanced and proper forms of self-expression," Francis said.
"The variety of opinions being aired can be seen as helpful," he continued, "but it also enables people to barricade themselves behind sources of information which only confirm their own wishes and ideas, or political and economic interests."
There's a tinge of irony to the Pope's comments, considering that his own soaring popularity can be partially traced to the Internet and social media. According to a study released in November, Francis was the most talked about person online last year.

மலேசியாவின் பினாங் மாகாணத்தில் உள்ள கிறித்தவ தேவாலயங்களைச் சுற்றிலும், பாதுகாப்பு ரோந்துகளைத் தாங்கள் அதிகரித்திருப்பதாக மலேசியப் போலிசார் கூறுகின்றனர்.
கிறித்தவ தேவாலயம் ஒன்றின் மீது வெடி குண்டுத் தாக்குதல் நடத்தப்பட்டதை அடுத்து இந்த நடவடிக்கை வருகிறது.
“அல்லா” என்ற சொல்லை, முஸ்லிமல்லாத பிற மதத்தினர் பயன்படுத்துவது குறித்து எழுந்த சர்ச்சையின் பின்னணியில், கிறித்தவர்களுக்கும், முஸ்லீம் பெரும்பான்மையினருக்கும் இடையே பதற்றங்கள் அதிகரிக்கின்றன என்ற கவலைகளை இந்தத் தாக்குதல் ஏற்படுத்தியிருக்கிறது.
“அல்லா மிகப்பெரியவர், ஏசு, அல்லாவின் மகன்” என்ற வாசகங்கள் அடங்கிய பதாகைகள் பினாங்கில் உள்ள மூன்று கிறித்தவ தேவாலயங்களின் வெளியே தொங்கவிடப்பட்டிருந்தன. இந்தத் தேவாலயங்களில் ஒன்றுதான் தாக்குதலுக்குள்ளானது.
இந்தப் போஸ்டர்களை தாங்கள் வைக்கவில்லை என்று கிறித்தவ மதத் தலைவர்கள் கூறுகின்றனர். ஆனால் இந்தத் தாக்குதல் ஒரு பதிலடி நடவடிக்கையாகவே பார்க்கப்படுவதாக பிபிசி செய்தியாளர் ஒருவர் கூறுகிறார்.
கடந்த அக்டோபரில், கடவுளைக் குறிக்கும் வகையில், ‘அல்லா’ என்ற வார்த்தையை முஸ்லிம்கள் மட்டுமே பயன்படுத்த முடியும் என்று நீதிமன்றம் ஒன்று தீர்ப்பளித்தது. ஆனால் மலேசியாவின் போர்னியோ பகுதியில் வசிக்கும் கிறித்தவர்கள் தாங்கள் இந்த அரபு வார்த்தையைப் பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக பயன்படுத்தி வந்துள்ளதாகக் கூறுகின்றனர்.

India at 64: caught between bigotry, corruption and chaos

Another Republic Day and the country's poor still have little to hope for.

New Delhi:  The general election expected in April or May this year forms the backdrop to India’s 65th Republic Day celebrations on Sunday. The event marks the day when the new constitution was promulgated and the country’s final break from the colonial era.

The otherwise joyous occasion marked by grand parades in state capitals and the national capital New Delhi, where India showcases its military might with ballistic missiles and marching columns, is this year being held under a noxious cloud of electoral invective, posturing and theatrical street confrontations that would be farcical if they did not have the seeds of a potential constitutional crisis.

Three seminal events leading up to the big day involved the three main political rivals seen as the main contenders in this year’s polls.

The first was a meeting of the Congress Party’s leadership in which its vice president Rahul Gandhi was chosen to lead the election campaign, but not named the party’s candidate for prime minister.

He spoke of programs for the poor, religious minorities and women and youth, but could not spell out a strategy that would help the party overcome charges of widespread corruption during its ten year rule, involving its top ministers and political leaders.

His mother, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, had the final say in not naming Rahul as the Congress prime ministerial hopeful. She vetoed a cacophony of sycophantic voices clamoring for Rahul to be appointed the party candidate for the top post if the party’s United Progressive Alliance wins a poll majority.

Sonia Gandhi, with her impeccable political instincts, guessed correctly that Rahul would be an easy target, if not exactly a sitting duck, if the campaign became a confrontation between him and Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) anointed candidate. She did not want the focus to be on personalities, a sort of a political duel between the two.

The second event was the BJP’s own national conclave and the core group meeting of its council where expectedly disappointment at being denied an easy target in Rahul Gandhi overwhelmed whatever policies it wanted to announce to woo voters.

Modi has been hankering for a direct fight with Gandhi similar to that of an American presidential campaign where Republican and Democrat nominees slug it out across the nation.

Much of the BJP meetings were spent slamming Gandhi for chickening out of mortal combat. It was left to Modi to articulate, in the time left, his vision for India and the party’s policies for the future.

He disappointed on both counts, pandering to industry and commerce in his focus on good governance and prosperity His vision for a united India, which covered the party’s core support base, left out religious minorities, the Dalits, the Tribals and people on the margins.

The third event was bizarre -- a confrontation between the Aam Admi Party (AAP) leadership and the federal government.

While Congress leads the federal government, the AAP controls the government of Delhi. The irony that the AAP rules with the “outside” support of the Congress is not lost on anyone.

AAP founder and Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal led a sit-in near the federal Home Ministry after the federally controlled Delhi police stopped him marching to the offices of the Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde.

Kejriwal said he wanted to protest against police who refused to carry out orders from his ministers – one calling for the arrest of an African woman suspected of human trafficking, and another demanding the arrest of the in-laws of a woman who was allegedly set on fire.

Kejriwal accused Shinde of being at the top of a chain of corruption beginning with police constables and involving senior officers including the police commissioner.

Kejriwal’s sit-in, close to where the Republic Day parade will be held, divided the people of Delhi. His supporters applauded his stand against the government; his opponents said it exposed his lust for power.

Lost in the fracas was the promise of a decisive struggle against corruption, which had first caught the imagination of the people and catapulted Kejriwal from street agitator to chief minister.

The strength of the Indian republic has been its commitment to pluralism and equity, in polity as much as in its social discourse. This has held the nation together despite widening gulfs between the rich and poor, and contrasts between emerging metropolises and IT hubs and rural areas and small towns still mired in gross underdevelopment.

Hope had always been held out to the poor that they were the ultimate beneficiaries of all development policies even if it was not apparent at first sight. The movement against corruption led first by Anna Hazare and then by Kejriwal was built on the argument that this promise was not being fulfilled because middle men, ministers and politicians were siphoning off the funds.

Unless things change radically in the next three months, the likely scenario will not see a focus on the poor man, or those who seek security from targeted violence.

With the AAP seeking a national vote without yet articulating a national policy, and Congress plagued by charges of corruption, the spotlight remains on the BJP.

Unfortunately, the party has signaled that its focus will be on the 200 million strong middle class with a political prosperity gospel and the Hindu majority in its accusation that Congress has been pandering only to Muslims.

And that is not good news for the world’s largest democracy as it celebrates Republic Day.

Blessed John Paul II's secretary to publish pontif's personal notes

Defy's order to burn because new book will 'give insight into the pope's soul'.

Warsaw:  Pope John Paul II's secretary "did not have the courage" to burn all of the pontiff's notes after his death, and is now having some of them published, he said Wednesday.

The book, Very Much in God's Hands. Personal Notes 1962-2003, comes out February 5 in Poland, where the pope is still a much-loved authority. It contains religious meditations that Karol Wojtyla recorded between July 1962, when he was a bishop in Poland, and March 2003, when he was pope.

Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz told a news conference that in preserving some of the notes he was motivated by the "despair of historians" when the letters of Pope Pius XII were burned after his death, as he had wished.

In his last will, John Paul commissioned Dziwisz, his personal secretary and closest aide of almost 40 years, to burn his personal notes. Instead, Dziwisz kept them and is having them published before John Paul is declared a saint April 27 in Rome. They were made available to the Vatican in the pope's fast-track beatification and sainthood processes.

In his notes, contained in two bound notebooks, the pope "reveals a part of his soul, of his meeting with God, contemplation and piety and that is the greatest value," Dziwisz said in the southern city of Krakow, where he is archbishop and where Wojtyla was also bishop and cardinal.

He said he burned "those letters and notes that required burning," but said it would have been a crime to burn all the notes which give insight into the pope's soul.

"In keeping them I respected his will," he insisted.

At first, Wojtyla made notes only in Polish, but later also in Italian and Latin with Greek and Spanish inclusions, according to Henryk Wozniakowski, head of the Catholic publishers Znak.

The book's editor, Agnieszka Rudziewicz, said the notes are an "extraordinary record of a spiritual path" and a record of Wojtyla's "self-development and road to sainthood," but readers should not expect "sensation."

John Paul died in 2005 at the age of 84, after 26 years as pope.

Anti-Kudankulam protest mulls moving on to Aam Aadmi Party platform

Thousands oppose the miliion-dollar nuclear power project in costal Tamil Nadu.

Chennai:  A group opposing the Kundankulam Nucler Power Project (KNPP) Sunday said it has decided to take its protest to a political platform and will hold talks with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

"Based on the consent of community leaders, it has been decided to hold talks with Aam Aadmi Party," said the People's Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) in a statement issued here.

According to the statement, the decision was taken a meeting of over 200 community leaders from Kanyakumari, Tuticorin, and Tirunelveli held in Idinthakarai near Kudankulam Sunday.

The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) is setting up two 1,000 MW Russian reactors at Kudankulam in Tirunelveli district, 650 km from here. The total outlay for the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) is over Rs.17,000 crore.

The people's protest against the mega power plant was spearheaded by PMANE for the past couple of years.

MIM leader in the state assembly said federal government ignored his party's repeated warning that separate Telangana state will only strengthen the hindutva forces.

“Even before the Telangana state is came to being some communal forces has started to work to disturb the atmosphere and harmony." He sited the attacks on Christians as examples.

Owaisi demanded immediate action against Sangh Parivar, “I hope mischief mongers will be brought to book immediately.”

Counting down the list of riots in the region MIM leader said, “Historically riots happened in Telangana region while SeemaAndhra region remained relatively peaceful. Religious intolerance is prevailing in the telangana region due to the activities of sangh parivar.”

MIM again reiterated its fear that Sangh Parivar will fill the political vacuum in Telangana after the merger of TRS with congress or after its political demise in the new state.

Several Christian groups have met chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy demanding protection to the community.

Andhra Pradesh Federation of Churches has already written to National Human Rights Commission for immediate intervention fearing more attacks in the run up to parliamentary and state elections.

Catholic-Orthodox dialogue begins in Kochi

It seeks to emphasize that communion in worship and sacraments is multi-faceted and multi-layered.

The Ninth Meeting of the International Joint Commission for Theological Dialogue Between the Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches

Kochi:  A week-long International Dialogue between the Oriental Orthodox and the Roman Catholic church will be held at Pampakuda near Kochi from Monday.

Thirty five delegates from the Oriental Orthodox churches of Egypt, Armenia, Malankara, Syria, Ethiopia and the Roman Catholic church will engage in a theological dialogue to discuss issues like ecclesiology, episcopacy, apostolic succession, the relevance and important of the Ecumenical Councils, the church and its mission, Metropolitan Dr Gabriel Gregorios told reporters in Kochi.


Last year, the conference was held in Rome and in 2012 at Ethiopia.

This is the first time it is being held in India, he said.

This year's dialogue will discuss the relevance of the nature and communion of the United and Undivided Apostolic church that existed till 5th century in the present day churches, Gregorios said.

The dialogue also seeks to emphasize that communion in worship and sacraments is multi-faceted and multi-layered; hence putting the onus on the churches to realize this aim.

Seminar papers relating to the Anaphora and Liturgy, Pilgrimage would be presented by eminent scholars, he said.

Delegates from various countries, including Egypt, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Italy, America, Armenia, Germany and Israel are expected to participate.

Gabriel Gregorios, Metropolitan Dr Yuhanon Demetrius and Father Mathew Vellanickal are the delegates from India in the dialogue.

Chennai:  At least 21 people were killed and one was missing when a boat with 43 people on board capsized near Port Blair Sunday, Andamans and Nicobar's police chief said. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa however put the toll at 28.

The accident took place between Ross Island and North Bay near Port Blair. The tourist boat Aqua Marine belonged to a private company.

"Around 10 people have been admitted to a hospital. The number of bodies recovered is 21 and one person is missing. All others have been saved," the union territory's Director General of Police Sudhir Yadav told IANS.

He said further details are being ascertained.

Expressing deep sorrow at the deaths of at least 28 people in the accident, Jayalalithaa ordered officials to take necessary action for providing relief to the survivors.

In a statement issued in Chennai, Jayalalithaa said senior state government officials have been ordered to immediately reach Port Blair to provide medical relief to those who have been rescued.

Out of the total 45 passengers, 33 were from Kanchipuram district, around 70 km from Chennai, she said, adding the majority of the dead were from the district only. Orders have been issued to bring the bodies here at the state government's cost.

She also ordered the release of Rs.100,000 as solatium for the families of each of the dead.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed shock over the accident.

In an official statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office, Manmohan Singh "condoled the loss of lives".

"The prime minister has asked all central agencies to immediately assist in the rescue and relief operations," the statement said.

Saint John Chrysostom, born in Antioch in 344, was endowed with a superior genius strengthened by a brilliant education. In order to break with a world which admired and courted him, in 374 he retired for six years to a neighboring mountain, having found Christ through his friendship with Saint Basil. After acquiring the art of Christian silence, he returned to Antioch and there labored as a priest under the direction of its bishop. His eloquence was such that the entire city, up to a hundred thousand listeners, came to hear him, a young man not yet thirty years old. He fled this popularity and adopted the monastic life for fourteen years, until he was taken forcibly to Constantinople, to be consecrated Patriarch of the imperial city in 398.

The effect of his sermons was everywhere marvelous. He converted a large number of pagans and heretics by his eloquence, then in its most brilliant luster, and constantly exhorted his Catholic people to frequent the Holy Sacrifice. In order to remove all excuse for absence he abbreviated the long liturgy then in use. Saint Nilus relates that Saint John Chrysostom, when the priest began the Holy Sacrifice, very often saw many of the Blessed coming down from heaven in shining garments, eyes intent, and bowed heads, in utter stillness and silence, assisting at the consummation of the tremendous mystery.

Beloved as he was in Constantinople, his denunciations of vice made him numerous enemies. In 403 these procured his banishment; and although he was almost immediately recalled, it was not more than a reprieve. In 404 he was banished to Cucusus in the deserts of the Taurus mountains. His reply to the hostile empress was: Chrysostom fears only one thing — not exile, prison, poverty or death — but sin.

In 407, at sixty-three years old his strength was waning, but his enemies were impatient and transported him to Pytius on the Euxine, a rough journey of nearly 400 miles. He was assiduously exposed to every hardship — cold, wet clothing, and semi-starvation, but nothing could overcome his cheerfulness and his consideration for others. On the journey his sickness increased, and he was warned that his end was near. Thereupon, exchanging his travel-stained clothes for white garments, he received Viaticum, and with his customary words, Glory be to God for all things. Amen, passed to Christ. He does not have the title of martyrdom, but possesses all its merit and all its glory. He is the author of the famous words characterizing Saint Paul, object of his admiration and love: The heart of Paul was the Heart of Christ.

இது போன்ற கேள்விகளைத்தான் கடந்த ஆண்டு இறந்த மூத்த மனித உரிமைச் செயற்பாட்டாளரான சுனிலா அபசேகரவும் கேட்டிருந்தார். கடந்த ஆண்டு தென்னிலங்கையில் மாத்தளையில் இப்படியொரு புதைகுழி தோண்டப்பட்டபோது அவர் உயிருடன் இருந்தார். அதையொட்டிய காலப் பகுதியில் கிறவுண்ட் வியூஸ் இணையத் தளத்திற்கு அவர் வழங்கிய ஒரு செவ்வியில் மேற்கண்டவாறு கேட்டிருந்தார்.
லத்தீன் அமெரிக்கா போன்ற நாடுகளில் இப்படிப் புதை குழிகள் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டால் அங்கெல்லாம் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பொதுமக்கள் திரண்டு சென்று எச்சங்களை அடையாளம் காட்ட முன்வருவார்கள் என்பதைச் சுட்டிக்காட்டிய சுனிலா அப்படியொரு நிலைமை இப்பொழுது தென்னிலங்கையில் இல்லை என்று குறிப்பிட்டிருந்தார்.
இப்படிப் பார்த்தால், ஆயுத மோதல்கள் முடிவுக்கு வந்த பின்னரான இலங்கைத் தீவில் மோதலில் ஈடுபட்ட இரண்டு பெரிய இனங்களுமே இது விசயத்தில் அதாவது, மனிதப் புதை குழிகளின் விசயத்தில் ஏறக்குறைய ஒரே விதமாக எதிர்வினையாற்றிருப்பதாக எடுத்துக்கொள்ள முடியுமா? ஆயின் இதற்குப் பின்னாலிருக்கக் கூடிய சமூக உளவியல் எத்தகையது?
அதை ஒரு வித நம்பிக்கையிழந்த நிலை அல்லது சலிப்புற்ற நிலை அல்லது கையறு நிலை அல்லது மரத்துப்போன நிலை என்று சொல்லலமா? குறிப்பாக, தமிழ் மக்களைப் பொறுத்த வரை காணாமற் போனவரை அடையாளங் காட்டுவதன் மூலம் ஆதாவது சாட்சியாக முன்வருவதன் மூலம் ஏற்படக் கூடிய பாதுகாப்பின்மைகள் தொடர்பிலான அச்சமும் ஒரு காரணம் என்பதை இங்கு மனித உரிமை ஆர்வலர்கள் சுட்டிக்காட்டுகிறார்கள்.
கடந்த ஆண்டு மனித உரிமைகள் தினத்தன்று கிளிநொச்சியில் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டிருந்த ஒரு பொதுக்கூட்டத்தில் காணாமற்போனவர்கள் சார்பாக ஒருவர் இக்கேள்வியைக் கேட்டிருந்தார். அதாவது சாட்சிகளிற்குப் பாதுகாப்பு உண்டா என்று? இக்கேள்வியானது மேற்படி கூட்டத்திற்கு நிதி அனுசரணை செய்த சட்டம் மற்றும் சமூக நம்பிக்கை நிதியத்தைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு சட்டவாளரிடமே கேட்கப்பட்டது. மேற்படி நிதியம் நீலன் திருச்செல்வத்தால் ஸ்தாபிக்கப்பட்டது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. இக்கேள்விக்கு பதிலளித்த மேற்படி சட்டவாளர், ”முன்பு இதுபோன்ற நிலைமைகளில் சாட்சிகளுக்குரிய பாதுகாப்பை எமது நிதியம் ஓரளவுக்கு உத்தரவாதப்படுத்தக்கூடிய நிலைமைகள் இருந்தன. ஆனால் இன்று எங்களுக்கே பாதுகாப்பு இல்லை…’ என்ற தொனிப்படக் கருத்துத் தெரிவித்திருந்தார்.
இது ஒரு முக்கியமான பிரச்சினைதான். காணாமற்போனவர்களுடைய எச்சங்களை அடையாளம் காட்டும் எவரும் அதனால் வரக்கூடிய ஆபத்துக்களையிட்டு அஞ்சுவது என்பது. காணாமற்போனவர் போனது போகட்டும் இப்பொழுது மிச்சமிருப்பவார்களாவது பாதுகாப்பாக இருக்கவேண்டும் என்பதற்காகவும் தமிழர்கள் புதைகுழிகளை நோக்கி வரத் தயாரற்று இருக்கலாம். இதை இன்னும் கூராகக் சொன்னால், இல்லாமல் போனவர்களுக்காக இருப்பவர்கள் ஆபத்தை விலைக்கு வாங்கக் கூடாது என்ற ஒரு முன்னெச்சரியையுணர்வுதான் இது எனலாம்.
ஆனால், இது போன்ற பல காரணங்களிற்காகவும் மக்கள் முன்வரத் தயங்குமொரு சமூக உளவியல் எனப்படுவது பங்கேற்பு ஜனநாயகத்திற்கோ அல்லது சமூகச் செயற்பாட்டு இயங்கங்களிற்கோ எந்த விதத்திலும் வாய்ப்பானது அல்ல. மாறாக, அது வாக்கு வேட்டை அரசியலுக்கே அதிகம் வாய்ப்பானது.
இலங்கைத் தீவில் ஆயுத மோதல்கள் முடிவுக்கு வந்த பின்னரான சுமார் ஐந்தாண்டு காலப்பகுதியில் நிலைமை அப்படித்தான் காணப்படுகிறது. மக்கள் பங்கேற்கும் ஜனநாயகததுக்கான சிவில் வெளி இப்பொழுதும் சுருங்கியே காணப்படுகின்றது. சுனிலா அபயசேகர இதைத் தனது பேட்டியில் சுட்டிக்காட்டியிருந்தார். நந்திக் கடற்கரையில் தோற்கடிக்கப்பட்டது ஒரு ஆயுதமேந்திய இயக்கம் மட்டுமல்ல, இலஙகைத்தீவு முழுவதிலுமுள்ள சமூக செயற்பாட்டு அமைப்புக்களும்தான்.
எங்கே பொதுமக்கள் நுண்ணுணர்வு குன்றி, சுரத்தின்றி, சலிப்பும் விரக்தியும் மேலோங்க ஒருவித முன்னெச்சரிக்கையுணர்வுடன் நத்தைகளைப் போல தலையை உள்ளிளுத்துக்கொண்டு வாழப் பழகி விடுகிறார்களோ அங்கேதான் கேள்விக்கிடமற்ற ஏதேச்சாதிகாரம் வெல்லக் கடினமான ஒரு வளர்ச்சியைப் பெறுகின்றது.
அது மட்டுமல்ல, மக்கள் பங்கேற்கும் ஜனநாயகத்துக்கும், சிவில் செயற்பாட்டியக்கங்களுக்குமான வெளி சுருங்கச் சுருங்க அது வாக்கு வேட்டை அரசியலுக்கே வாய்ப்பாக அமைகின்றது. கடந்த சுமார் ஐந்தாண்டுகளாக தமிழ் மக்களின் அரசியல் அரங்கு அப்படித்தான் மாறி வருகின்றது.
ஒரு இனத்தின் வரலாற்றில் ஐந்தாண்டுகள் எனப்படுவது மிகச்சிறிய ஒரு காலப்பகுதிதான். ஆனால், முல்லைத்தீவு மாவட்டத்தில் குடித்தொகை அடர்த்தியை திட்டமிட்டு மாற்றும் முயற்சிகளின் வேகத்தோடும், வடக்கு-கிழக்கில் நிதிமுலதனப் படர்ச்சியின் வழிகளை இலகுவாக்கிக் கொடுக்கும் செயற்பாடுகளின் வேகத்தோடும் ஒப்பீகையில் தமிழ் மக்கள் மத்தியில் பங்கேற்பு ஜனநாயகத்துக்கும், சிவில் செயற்பாட்டுக்குமான பரப்பைப் பலப்படுத்தி பெருப்பிக்கும் முயற்சிகளின் வேகம் போதாது என்றே கூறவேண்டும்.
சிவில் வெளியை செயற்பாட்டியக்கங்கள் தான் கருத்தரிக்க வேண்டும். அடைகாக்க வேண்டும். பிரசவிக்கவும் வேண்டும். அதை வெளியிலிருந்து யாரும் ஒரு வரமாக அல்லது அரசியல் பக்கேச் ஆக தர முடியாது. ஆங்கில மரபில் ஒரு முதுமொழி உண்டு. ”முட்டை வெளிச்சக்தியால் உடைக்கப்படும்போது உயிர் இறக்கிறது. முட்டை உட்சக்தியால் உடைக்கப்படும் போது உயிர் பிறக்கின்றது…. மகத்தான விடயங்கள் உள்ளேயிருந்துதான் தொடங்குகின்றன’ என்று. இது சிவில் இயக்கங்களுக்கும் பொருந்தும்.
ஜெனிவாவை நோக்கிச் செல்லும் இந்நாட்களில் ஒப்பீட்டளவில் சிவில் பரப்பு அதிகரித்துக் காணப்படுகிறது. குறிப்பாக, யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் புதிய தளபதியின் வருகைக்குப் பின் வீதிகளிற் காணப்பட்ட காவலரண்கள் கணிசமான அளவுக்குக் குறைக்கப்பட்டிருகின்றன. ஆனால், ரோந்து அதிகரித்திருக்கின்றது. முழுமையான இராணுவ மய நீக்கம் நிகழாத ஒரு பின்னணிக்குள்ளும் கடந்த சுமார் ஐந்தாண்டுகளாக வடக்கு-கிழக்கில் சிவில் பரப்பெனப்படுவது ஒப்பீட்டளவில் முன்னரைவிட அதிகரித்து வருகின்றது.
அரசாங்கத்தை முறிக்காமல் வளைக்கும் ராஜீய முன்னெடுப்புக்களில் மேற்கும் இந்தியாவும் தோல்வியுறும் பட்சத்தில் அதாவது, அரசாங்கமானது திரும்பி வரவியலாத ஒரு புள்ளி வரை நெகிழ்ந்து கொடுக்க மறுத்து யூ ரேண் எடுக்குமாயிருந்தால் கடந்த 5 ஆண்டுகளாக படிப்படியாக அதிகரித்துவரும் சிவில் பரப்பு திடீரென்று சுருங்கக் கூடும் என்ற அச்சங்களும் உண்டு.
ஆனாலும், இப்பொழுது கிடைத்திருக்கின்ற பலவீனமான, நிச்சயமற்ற தமிழ்ச் சிவில் வெளியை வெற்றிகரமாகக் கையாண்டு அதை மேலும் பலப்படுத்தி பெருப்பிக்கும் முயற்சிகளை அநேகமாகக் காணமுடியவில்லை. வெளியாருக்காகக் காத்திருக்கும் ஒரு அரசியலில் வெளிநாட்டுப் பிரமுகர்கள் வருகை தரும்போதெல்லாம் முன்னெடுக்கப்படும் குறியீட்டு வகைப்பட்ட தெட்டம் தெட்டமான கவன ஈர்ப்புப் போராட்டங்களுக்குமப்பால் தொடர்ச்சியாக முன்னெடுக்கப்படும் எந்த ஒரு போராட்டத்தையும் அரங்கில் காண முடியவில்லை. கடந்த ஐந்தாண்டுகளில் ஜனவசியம் மிக்க எந்தவொரு சமூக செயற்பாட்டு ஆளுமையும் மேலெழவில்லை. ஈழத்தமிழர்களின் செயற்பாட்டு இயக்கப் பாரம்பரியம் எனப்படுவது இப்பிராந்தியத்தில் உள்ள ஏனைய மக்கள் கூட்டங்களோடு ஒப்பிடுகையில் பலவீனமானதுதான்.
சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பு யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் இரண்டு பெண்களின் மரணத்தையடுத்து பெண்ணியச் செயற்பாட்டியக்கங்கள் சில வீதியில் இறங்கிப் போராடின. இப்போராட்டங்களில் குறைந்தளவு எண்ணிக்கை யானவர்களே பங்குபற்றினர். இது தொடர்பாக இக்கட்டுரையாளருடன் உரையாடிய மட்டக்களப்பில் வசிக்கும் ஒரு செயற்பாட்டாளர் கேட்டார் ”ஏன் இப்படிப்பட்ட போராட்டங்களில் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட நபரின் உறவினர்களே பெரும்பாலும் பங்குபற்றுகிறார்கள்? கல்விமான்கள், புத்திஜிவிகள், படைப்பாளிகள், வழக்கறிஞர்கள், மீடியாக்காரர்கள் மற்றும் அரசியல் ஆய்வாளர்கள் போன்றவார்கள் ஏன் பங்குபற்றுவதில்லை’ என்று உண்மைதான். தமிழர்கள் மத்தியில் பிரபல்யமடையும் எவரும் அந்தப் பிரபல்யத்தை அரசியலில் கொண்டுபோய் முதலீடு செய்யவே ஆர்வங்காட்டுகிறார்கள். ஓய்வு பெற்றவர்களும், வாழ்க்கையில் செற்றில்ட் ஆனவர்களும்கூட அரசியலைத்தான் தெரிவு செய்கிறார்கள். தொழில் சார் அரசியல் வாதிகளாக மாறி அதில் கிடைக்கும் புகழ், பணம், ராஜபோகம் போன்றவற்றை அனுபவிப்பதில் நாட்டமுடைய எவரும் செயற்பாட்டியக்கங்களை நோக்கி வருவதில்லை. செயற்பாட்டியக்கம் வேறு;, தொழில் சார் அரசியல் வேறு. இரண்டும் இருவேறு தடங்கள். ஆனால், பங்கேற்பு ஜனநாயகமும், செயற்பாட்டியக்கமும் சமாந்திரமானவை அல்லது ஒன்று மற்றதை இட்டு நிரப்புபவை.
ஆயுத மோதல்கள் முடிவுக்கு வந்து சுமார் ஐந்து ஆண்டுகளாயிருக்கும் ஒரு காலச் சூழலில் ஈழத்தமிழர்கள் மத்தியில் தொழில்சார் அரசியல்வாதிகள் பெருகிச் செல்லும் அளவுக்கு செயற்பாட்டாளுமைகள் பெருகவில்லை. மிகச் சிறிய மக்கள் கூட்டமாகிய ஈழத்தமிழர்கள் தமது வல்லமைக்கு மீறி ரத்தம் சிந்தியிருக்கிறார்கள். காயப்பட்டிருக்கிறார்கள். இழக்கக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார்கள். இதனால் எல்லாவற்றையும் அரசியலில் கொண்டுபோய் மையப்படுத்திச் சிந்திக்கும் ஒரு போக்கே மேலொங்கிக் காணப்படுகிறது. பதிலாக அவரவர் அவரவர் துறை சார்ந்து அர்ப்பணிப்பும் முன்னுதாரணமும் படைப்புத்திறனும் மிக்க செயற்பாட்டுத் தளங்களை திறக்குமிடத்து அதுவே ஆகப்பெரிய தேசியப் பணியாக இருக்கும். ஏனெனில், இலட்சியப் பற்றும் அர்ப்பணிப்பும் மிக்க எந்தவொரு செயற்பாட்டு இயக்கமும் தேசிய தன்மை மிக்கதுதான்.

ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் மனித உரிமைப் பேரவையின் ஆணையாளர் நவனீதம்பிள்ளை, இலங்கை தொடர்பில் இரண்டு அறிக்கைககளை சமர்ப்பிக்க உள்ளார்.
ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் மனித உரிமைப் பேரவையின் 25 ம் அமர்வுகளிலும், ஆணையாளரின் ஆண்டறிக்கையிலும் இலங்கை விவகாரம் பற்றி குறிப்பிடப்பட உள்ளது.
அமர்வுகளில் இலங்கை குறித்த அறிக்கை ஒன்றை எதிர்வருமு; மார்ச் மாதம் 26ம் திகதி சமர்ப்பிப்பார் என தெரிவிக்கப்படுகிறது.
இதற்கு மேலதிகமாக ஆணையாளரின் வருடாந்த அறிக்கையிலும் இலங்கை மனித உரிமை நிலைமைகள் குறித்து அறிவிப்பார் எனக் குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறது.
அண்மையில் இலங்கைக்கு மேற்கொண்ட விஜயம் தொடர்பிலும் நவனீதம்பிள்ளை தமது அறிக்கைகளில் குறிப்பிடுவார் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

காணாமற்போனவர்கள் தொடர்பில் தொடர் போராட்டத்தின் ஆரம்பமாக, கொழும்பில் நேற்றுமுன்தினம் வெள்ளிக்கிழமை இரவு, காணாமற் போனவர்களின் உறவுகளால் தீப்பந்தப் போராட்டம் நடத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.
‘காணாமற்போனோர் பிரச்சினைக்குச் சர்வதேச விசாரணையே தேவை என்பதை வலியுறுத்திச் சர்வதேச சமூகத்துக்கு அழுத்தம் கொடுக்கும் நோக்குடன், ஜெனிவா அமர்வுக்கு முன்னதாக இந்தத் தொடர் போராட்டம் முன்னெடுக்கப்படும்’ என்று போராட்ட ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளரான சுந்தரம் மகேந்திரன் தெரிவித்தார்.
கேலிச் சித்திர ஊடகவியலாளரான பிரகீத் எக்கலிகொட காணமற்போய் 4 வருடங்களாவதை முன்னிட்டும், காணமற்போனோரின் உறவுகளை விடுவிக்குமாறு கோரியும் காணாமற்போனோரைக் தேடிக் கண்டறியும் குழுவினால் மஹரகமவில் நேற்று முன்தினம் வெள்ளிக்கிழமை காலை 10 மணியிலிருந்து கவனவீர்ப்புப் போராட்டம் முன்னெடுக்கப்பட்டது.
கடத்தப்பட்டோரை விடுதலை செய்
வடக்கு – கிழக்கு மற்றும் தலைநகர் கொழும்பில் கடத்தப்பட்டுக் காணாமற் போனவர்களின் உறவுகள் இந்தப் போராட்டத்தில் கலந்து கொண்டனர். ‘மனித உரிமைகளுக்கு மதிப்பளி’, ‘தாய்மாரின் கண்ணீருக்குப் பதில் சொல்’, ‘கடத்தப்பட்டவர்களை உடனடியாக விடுதலை செய்’ ஆகிய வாசகங்கள் அடங்கிய பதாதைகளைக் காணாமற் போனோரின் உறவுகள் தாங்கியிருந்தனர்.
இதன் தொடர்சியாக இரவு 6 மணி முதல் ஒரு மணி நேரம் தீப்பந்தப் போராட்டம் நடத்தப்பட்டது. காணாமற் போனோரின் உறவுகள் கையில் தீப்பந்தம் ஏந்தி அமைதியான முறையில் போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டனர்.
இந்தப் போராட்டத்தின் தொடர்ச்சியாக வடக்கு – கிழக்கிலும் காணமற்போனோர் தொடர்பில் சர்வதேச விசாரணையைக் கோரிக் கவனவீர்ப்புப் போராட்டம் நடத்தப்படும் எனவும், ஐ.நா மனித உரிமைகள் அமர்வுக்கு முன்னர் சர்வதேசத்துக்கு அழுத்தம் கொடுக்கும் வகையில் இந்தப் போராட்டம் முன்னெடுக்கப்படும் என்றும் காணாமற்போனோரைத் தேடிக் கண்டறியும் குழுவின் செயலாளர் சுந்தரம் மகேந்திரன் தெரிவித்தார்.

இந்த யோசனை நிறைவேற்றப்பட்ட பின்னர் இலங்கை சம்பந்தமாக ஆராய 6 மாத கால அவகாசம் வழங்கப்பட உள்ளது.
குறித்த காலப் பகுதியில் நியமிக்கப்படும் சுயாதீன விசாரணை குழு ஊடாக இலங்கை தொடர்பில் முழுமையான விசாரணைகளை நடத்த திட்டங்கள் வகுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக கூறப்படுகிறது.
இரண்டாவது நடவடிக்கையாக 6 மாதங்களுக்கு பின்னர் வெளியிடப்படும் விசாரணை அறிக்கையை அடிப்படையாக கொண்டு இலங்கை எதிராக பொருளாதார தடைகளை விதிக்கும் தயார்ப்படுத்தல்கள் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டு வருவதாக அந்த தகவல்கள் மேலும் தெரிவித்தன.

இச் சந்திப்பு தொடர்பில் ஆயரில்ல செய்தித் தொடர்பாளர் எஸ்.மைக்கல் செய்தியிலேயே இவ்வாறு தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அத்துடன், தமிழ் அரசியல் கைதிகள், மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்ட பொருளாதாரம், மற்றுமு; மாவட்டம் தொடர்பாக பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் நகர அபிவிருத்தி அமைச்சின் செயலாளரிடம் பேசியுள்ளார்.
தமிழ் அரசியல் கைதிகளின் உறவினர்கள் தன்னிடம் தெரிவித்த கருத்துக்களுக்கு அமைவாக, சிறையில் வாடும் தமிழ் அரசியல் கைதிகளுக்கு பொது மன்னிப்பு வழங்குவதற்கும், பொது மன்னிப்பு வழங்குவதற்கும் அல்லது அவர்களுக்கு புனர்வாழ்வழிப்பதற்கு ஆவன செய்யுமாறு கேட்டுக் கொண்டுள்ளார்.
மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்டம் பொருளாதார ரீதியில் பின்தங்கிய மாவட்டமாகவே காணப்படுகிறது. இந்த மாவட்டத்தில் தொழில் வாய்ப்பு இன்மையும், பொருளாதார அபிவிருத்தி குறைந்த நிலையும் காணப்படுகிறது. இங்கு போதுமான வளங்கள் இருந்தும், பொருளாதார வசதியின்மையால் அமைப் பயன்படுத்த முடியவில்லை.

யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த தமிழக மீனவர்கள் அனைவரும் விடுதலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
எஞ்சியிருந்த தமிழக மீனவர்கள் 25 பேரும் ஊர்காவற்துறை நீதவான் எஸ். லெனின்குமார் முன்னிலையில் நேற்று ஆஜர்படுத்தப்பட்டதை அடுத்து அவர்களை விடுதலை செய்யுமாறு உத்தரவு பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
விடுதலை செய்யப்பட்ட 25 மீனவர்களது 06 படகுகளும் அவர்களிடமே மீள ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. இந்த மீனவர்கள் கடந்த 21 ஆம் திகதி வடபகுதி கடற்பரப்பில் கைது செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தனர.
இதேவேளை யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த தமிழக மீனவர்கள் 40 பேர் நேற்றுமாலை விடுதலை செய்யப்பட்டு ஊர்காவற்துறை நீதவான் நீதிமன்றத்தில் ஆஜர்படுத்தப்பட்டிருந்தனர்.
இதன்போது தமிழக மீனவர்கள் 40 பேரை விடுதலைசெய்து அவர்களின் 09 படகுகளையும் விடுவிக்குமாறு நீதவான் உத்தரவு பிறப்பித்ததாக கடற்றொழில் திணைக்களத்தின் யாழ் மாவட்ட பணிப்பாளர் நடராஜா கணேஷமூர்த்தி குறிப்பிட்டார்.
நேற்று விடுதலை செய்யப்பட்ட 25 தமிழக மீனவர்களுடன் யாழ் சிறைச்சாலையில் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த அனைத்து இந்திய மீனவர்களும் விடுதலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதாக கடற்றொழில் திணைக்களத்தின் யாழ். மாவட்ட பணிப்பாளர் மேலும் தெரிவித்தார்.

விண்வெளியில் உள்ள பால் மண்டலத்தில் கோடிக் கணக்கான நட்சத்திரங்கள் உள்ளன. அவற்றின் ஆயுட் காலம் முடியும் வேளையில் அவை வெடித்து சிதறி வர்ண ஜாலங்களை ஏற்படுத்தும். அதை சூப்பர் நோவா என விஞ்ஞானிகள் அழைக்கின்றனர்.
விண்ணில் நடக்கும் இந்த அதிசயத்தை பகல் நேரங்களில் வெறும் கண்ணால் கூட பார்க்க முடியும். அப்படிப்பட்ட ஒரு அதிசயம் சமீபத்தில் நடந்தது.
இதை லண்டன் வானிலை ஆய்வு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் பட்டதாரி மாணவர்கள் கண்டுபிடித்தனர். டெலஸ்கோப் குறித்த பாடத்தின் போது அவர்கள் ஆய்வில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்தனர்.
அப்போது மிகப் பெரிய இராட்சத அளவிலான நட்சத்திரம் ஒன்று வெடித்து சிதறி வர்ண ஜாலங்களை வெளிப்படுத்தியது.
இப்புதிய சூப்பர் நோவா மெஸ்சியர் 82 விண்மீன் கூட்டத்தில் இருந்து 1 கோடியே 20 இலட்சம் ஒளி மைல் தூரத்தில் உள்ளது. ஆனால் இதை வெறுங்கண்ணால் பார்க்க முடியாது.
வெடித்து சிதறும் இந்த நட்சத்திரம் இன்னும் சில நாட்களில் பூமிக்கு அருகில் வரும் அப்போது பைனாகுலர் மூலம் பார்க்கலாம் என தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

2014ம் ஆண்டில் தங்கம் விலையானது 10 கிராமிற்கு உச்சக்கட்டமாக 33,000 ரூபாயை தொடவுள்ளதாக சந்தை நிர்வாகிகள் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.
ரித்தி சித்தி புல்லியன்ஸ் லிமிடெட் (RSBL) நிறுவனத்தின் நிர்வாக இயக்குனர் பிரித்திவிராஜ் கோத்தாரி இது குறித்து கூறுகையில், நடப்பாண்டில் தங்கத்தின் சராசரி விலை 10 கிராமிற்கு 28,000 ரூபாயாக இருப்பதாகத் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
தங்கத்தின் அடிப்படை விலை ஒரு அவுன்சுக்கு 1375 அமெரிக்க டொலர்களாக இருக்கும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது. உள் நாட்டுச் சந்தையில், தங்கத்தின் விலை நிலை 10 கிராமிற்கு 25000 முதல் 33000 ஆயிரம் வரையும், அடிப்படை விலை சராசரியாக ரூபாய் 28000 வரையும் இருக்கும் எனவும் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
வெள்ளியின் அடிப்படை விலை சராசரியாக ஒரு கிலோவிற்கு 2500 அமெரிக்க டொலர்களாக இருக்கும் என்றும் உள்நாட்டு சந்தையில் அதன் சராசரி விலை கிலோவிற்கு 45000 ரூபாய் இருக்கும் எனவும் எதிர்ப்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது. வெள்ளியின் வர்த்தக விலை நிலைகள் ரூபாய் 37,000-லிருந்து 55,000 வரை இருக்கும் எனவும் அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.
கோத்தாரி குழுமமான RSBL நிறுவனம் விலை உயர்ந்த உலோகங்கள், சிறப்பு உலோக பார்கள், மதிப்புமிக்க தங்கம், வெள்ளி, பிளாட்டினம் போன்ற உலோகங்களில் செய்யப்பட்ட நாணயம் ஆகிய வர்த்தக செயல்பாடுகளில ஈடுபட்டுள்ளது. பன்னிரண்டு வருட தொடர்ந்த விலை உயர்வை முடிவுக்குக் கொண்டு வரும் வகையில், 2013 ம் ஆண்டு 28 சதவிகித சரிவை சந்தித்தது. இது 1981ம் ஆண்டிலிருந்து இதுவரை இல்லாத மிகக் கூர்மையான சரிவாகும்.
2012-13ம் ஆண்டில் 88 பில்லியன் அமெரிக்க டொலர் அளவுக்கு உச்சத்தை எட்டிய நடப்புக்கணக்குப் பற்றாக்குறையை கட்டுப்படுத்தும் நோக்கில் அரசு மற்றும் ரிசர்வ் வங்கி எடுத்த பல்வேறு தங்க முதலீடுகளைக் குறைக்கும் நடவடிக்கைகளால் தங்கத்தின் தேவை குறைந்துள்ளது. இந்தியாவின் நடப்புக்கணக்குப் பற்றாக்குறை நடப்பு நிதியாண்டில் 50 பில்லியன் அமெரிக்க டொலர் அளவுக்குக் குறையும் என எதிர்ப்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
2011ம் ஆண்டில் ஒரு அவுன்சுக்கு 1,910 அமெரிக்க டொலர் என்ற உச்சத்தைத் தொட்ட 24 கேரட் தங்கம் அதன் பின் அப்போது தான் சரிவடைந்துள்ளதாக கோத்தாரி குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.

இங்குள்ள மக்களை கலாச்சார ரீதியாக நசுக்குவதாகவும், ஹான் சீனர்களை இப்பகுதியில் குடியேற்றுவதாகவும் குற்றம் சாட்டும் போராளிக்குழுக்கள் அரசுக்கு எதிராக தீவிரத் தாக்குதல் நடத்தி வருகின்றன.
நேற்று மாலை இப்பகுதியின் மூன்று இடங்களில் குண்டுகள் வெடித்தன. கத்திகளுடன் வந்த கலகக்காரர்கள் குண்டுகள் வீசி தாக்குதல் நடத்தினர். அப்போது 6 பேர் கொல்லப்பட்டனர் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. மேலும் பல இடங்களில் நடந்த துப்பாக்கி சூடு உள்ளிட்ட வன்முறை சம்பவங்களில் 8 பேர் கொல்லப்பட்டனர்.
கடந்த ஜூன் மாதம் இம்மாகாணத்திலுள்ள தர்பன் பகுதியில் நடந்த வன்முறை சம்பவங்களில் 35 பேர் கொல்லப்பட்டது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

Saint Polycarp, Bishop of Smyrna, was a disciple of Saint John. He wrote to the Philippians, exhorting them to mutual love and to hatred of heresy. When the apostate Marcion met Saint Polycarp at Rome, he asked the aged Saint if he knew him. Yes, Saint Polycarp answered, I know you for the first-born of Satan. These were the words of a Saint, most loving and most charitable, and specially noted for his compassion to sinners. He abhorred heresy, because he loved God and man so well.

In 167 persecution broke out in Smyrna. When Polycarp heard that his pursuers were at the door, he said, The Will of God be done; and meeting them, he begged to be left alone for a little time, which he spent in prayer for the Catholic Church throughout the world. He was brought to Smyrna early on Holy Saturday; and as he entered, a voice was heard from heaven, Polycarp, be strong. When the proconsul urged him to curse Christ and go free, Polycarp answered, Eighty-six years I have served Him, and He never did me wrong; how can I blaspheme my King and Saviour? When he threatened him with fire, Polycarp told him this fire of his lasted but a short time, while the fire prepared for the wicked lasted forever.

At the stake he thanked God aloud for letting him drink of Christ's chalice. The fire was lighted, but it did him no harm; therefore he was stabbed to the heart, and his dead body was burnt. Then, say the writers of his acts, we took up the bones, more precious than the richest jewels or gold, and deposited them in a fitting place, at which may God grant us to assemble with joy, to celebrate the birthday of the martyr to his life in heaven!
