“The ideas of peace, humanity and brotherhood seem far-fetched with the rate of crime on the ascend and gradually the world is becoming more dangerous and hostile than ever before,” said Fr. U. Balashowry, who along with his team at Amruthavani Communication Center worked tirelessly on the play.
The play with the name ‘The Mother’ on the life and struggles of Mother Teresa is the first of its kind Telugu production in which Tollywood icons have joined hands with the Catholic Church.
Well-known artists like Anup Reubens – a Tollywood sensation for his work in over 30 commercially successful Telugu movies, Akella Suryanarayana – a 13 time recipient of the Nandi Award with 80 successful films and Suddala Ashok Teja – a lyricist in Tollywood with over 1,000 songs to his credit, have helped portray humanism, peace and love within the entire society and also promote national integration and the principles of Vasudhaika Kutumbam - universal family in the play.
The music team also includes noted playback singers M L R Karthikeyan and national award winner Sadhana Sargham who have sung in the audio album of the stage play.
The three songs in the production were released Cricketer V V S Laxman and MLA Jayasudha.
“The most beautiful relationship I’ve had is with my mother. She made so many sacrifices for me. Obviously, I am her son, so she has to look after me. But what’s the relationship between Mother Teresa and all the children she looked after? It is a divine relationship, which is why she is a divine soul. She is a role model for me,” Laxman said.
Major research is being done to ensure that every aspect of the life of Mother Teresa is covered.
Suryanarayana traveled to Kolkata to visit ‘Mother Teresa House’ to get a glimpse of her life. Reubens composed all three songs of the play.
Fr. Balashowry said, “I want to extend my gratitude to all those who have worked on this project as they have either charged only a nominal fee or nothing at all."
The play would be staged on Dec. 9th and 10th at Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad.
