Aizawl:  Father A Jayseelan of Siphir Parish would represent the Catholic Church in Mizoram in the canonisation ceremony of Mother Teresa in the Vatican on Sunday, sources in the Aizawl Diocese today said.

The decision was recently made in the meeting of the church leaders chaired by Bishop Stephen Rotluanga of Aizawl.

Meanwhile, some families belonging to the Catholic Church were privately travelling to the Vatican to attend the ceremony.

A number of Mizo women have joined the Sisters of Charity, the Congregation started by the late Mother, the Aizawl Diocese sources added.

Though Mizoram is dominated by the Presbyterian and Baptist churches, there are a sizeable number of Catholics in the state and their church has been running some of the best educational institutions in the state.
