SIGNIS India stresses networking for better impact
The new platform should help the Church personnel to utilize “our resources which otherwise are getting scattered.”
More than 100 members of the forum, formerly known as UNDA-OCIC, attended their Feb. 19-22 annual meeting at Prerana Sadan in Indore on the theme: Media for Promotion of Truth and Peace.
A statement issued after the meeting stressed the need for networking pointing to the modern developments in communication and technology. It said wanted a “proper platform to respond to the evil forces” that are bent on vilifying the Church and its mission.
The new platform should help the Church personnel to utilize “our resources which otherwise are getting scattered.”
“An effective evangelization aimed at the promotion of truth and peace in our society is possible only if we network” and make a united effort to share information and ideas to all involved.
Networking can make communication faster, better and generate better effect. Networking can also avoid avoid repetitions of audio-video productions, saving man-power and money, it said.
Networking can also help promoting combined productions under the banner of SIGNIS, the statement said.
However, the statement also said frequent transfers and non-availability of personnel can become hindrances in networking efforts.
Institutions at times, focus on their own work, and prefer not to network with other institutions. “This often results in growing individualism, selfishness and consumerism,” the statement said.
As a solution to overcome these blocks the meeting suggested creating awareness on the need of networking through training through available Church platforms at both regional and national level.
“We need to train spokespersons at regional and national level and launch mainstream media ministry or have our own news channels,” the statement said.
