New book explains Church's concept of human dignity
The book released during the CBCI plenary assembly in Palai, Kerala.
The book, Human Dignity in Catholic Social Thought, was released on Saturday. It is edited by Father Charles Irudayam, secretary of the CBCI Office for Justice, Peace and Development.
The book, released during the CBCI plenary assembly in Palai, Kerala, encapsulates the Catholic teaching on human dignity. Although not designed to be a compendium of the Church’s teaching on human dignity, it, however, includes the biblical perspectives on human dignity.
It also highlights the patristic teaching on human dignity, besides broadly discussing the concept in the teachings of different popes beginning with Leo XIII till Francis.
The first copies of the book were handed to Bishop Soosai Manickam of Sivagangai diocese and to Bishop Gerald Almeida, an Episcopal member of the CBCI Office for Justice, Peace and Development.
Bangalore-based Asian Trading Corporation is the publisher of the book.
