முள்ளிவாய்க்கால் போரின் போது ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் மன்றத்தின் நடவடிக்கைகள் தொடர்பாக ஆராயும் நிமித்தம் செயலாளர் நாயகம் பான் கீ-மூன் அவர்களால் நியமிக்கப்பட்ட உள்ள ஆய்வுக் குழுவால் புதன்கிழமை அறிக்கையொன்று வெளியிடப்பட்டிருந்தது.
அவ்வறிக்கையின் இரண்டாவது பின்னிணைப்பில் (பக்கம் 38: சரத்து 5) வன்னிப் போரில் காணால்போன 146,679 தமிழர்களின் கதி குறித்து கேள்வியெழுப்பப்பட்டுள்ளது.
சிறீலங்கா அரசாங்கத்தால் நியமிக்கப்பட்ட கற்றுக்கொண்ட பாடங்கள், மற்றும் நல்லிணக்கத்திற்கான ஆணையத்தின் முன் கிளிநொச்சி – முல்லைத்தீவு மாவட்ட செயலர்களால் சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட எழுத்துமூலப் புள்ளிவிபரத்தில் 2008ஆம் ஆண்டு ஒக்ரோபர் மாதம் வன்னியில் 429,059 பொதுமக்கள் வசித்து வந்ததாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.
