Malala Yousafzai says "Books are the weapons for fighting terrorism"
Malala
Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl who has been nominated for the Nobel
Peace Prize for challenging terrorists in her country by fighting to
promote the right of women for education - says "Books are the weapons
for fighting terrorism".
With these words, the 16-year-old
Malala inaugurated the new Library of Birmingham. With its 31,000 square
metres, the library is the largest in Europe and holds one million
books, including the first editions of various works by William
Shakespeare.
In her address, Malala — who was attacked in
Peshawar, Pakistan, on 9 October 2012 and rushed to Great Britain where
she was hospitalized and now lives — emphasized the value of a culture
which promotes societies based on peace. In her fight against global
illiteracy, Malala has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
