Probe against police officers in latest church attack case

One of the accused, Chandan, has already been arrested.

 

Lucknow:  Police chief in Uttar Pradesh state has ordered a probe against his officers in Banda district for their alleged delayed action in the case of a attack on a church last week.

"The DGP has directed Superintendent of Police, Banda to initiate probe against ASP, CO, Inspector city police station and outpost incharge for reaching late at the spot. The SP has been asked to submit his report within a week so that disciplinary action could be initiated against them," an official spokesman said here.

One of the accused, Chandan, has already been arrested. The DGP directed that the second accused, Sunil, should be arrested within 24 hours, the spokesman said.

The two had allegedly attacked the watchman of a church on Chilla road in Banda, 200 kilometers from state capital Lucknow on May 9. They were reportedly in an inebriated state and hurled stones and tried to damage church property.
