The artist took one and half months to complete the painting.

Kochi:  A six feet tall St. George’s painting, claimed to be the biggest in Kerala, was today installed in a chapel near Kochi.

The nine feet wide painting, which occupies about 54 square feet, was unveiled at St George Chapel near the St Thomas Jacobite Church at Marika in Koothattukulam in Ernakulam District.

It has been painted by Vimal Kalaniketan, an artist comfortable both with murals and oil paintings and hails from Thirumarady in the district.

He took one and half months to complete the painting, that he began working on since August 15, Kalaniketan said.

V J Job, who donated the painting to the church, said it was a long cherished dream of his mother and his, to present the church with a painting of St George of this size.

Jacobite Metropolitan Mathews Mar Ivanious blessed the painting and the new chapel at a function here this morning.
