Bishop Aleixo Dias of Port Blair Retired

He is a priest for 49 years and a Bishop for 33 years.

New Delhi:  Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Bishop Aleixo Das Neves Dias, (74) as Bishop of Port Blair (Andaman and Nicobar Islands), on Sunday, 6 January 2019.

He was born on 5 August 1944 at Calangute in Goa Archdiocese and ordained priest on 21 December, 1969 for the Society of the Missionaries of Saint Francis Xavier, Pilar, Goa.

At the age of 39 he was appointed the first Bishop of Port Blair on 22 June, 1984 and ordained Bishop on 20 January, 1985. He is a priest for 49 years and a Bishop for 33 years.
